Professional Statement
Hi, my name is Yas, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over a decade of experience supporting children, teens, adults, and families. I specialize in trauma-informed care, cultural identity, and relationship dynamics, with a strong commitment to serving immigrant and bicultural communities. I immigrated from Iran to the U.S. in 2004, carrying with me both the visible and invisible layers of a complex history—personal loss, cultural transition, and a search for belonging. My early experiences with trauma and grief sparked a lifelong desire to understand the emotional world—first my own, and eventually that of others. This path led me to become a therapist who holds space not just for pain, but for resilience, growth, and self-discovery. I specialize in working with children, teens, and families navigating identity, relationships, and emotional challenges. I work closely with parents and caregivers, offering guidance rooted in Positive Parenting principles to strengthen connection and foster lasting change at home. I also support young and older adults facing anxiety, depression, and life transitions. My approach is warm, trauma-informed, and rooted in cultural humility. In our work together, I draw from evidence-based approaches such as CBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness, always tailoring our sessions to your unique story and goals. Therapy with me is an active, collaborative process where you’ll feel supported, seen, and equipped with tools to move forward. Whether you’re a young person navigating the ups and downs of growing up, a parent seeking support in connecting with your child or an adult facing life transitions, I’m here to walk alongside you.
