Ronald Ochoa, MFT Adults, Adolescents
Professional Statement
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #150910). I am proud of your decision to seek help! During our work together, I will be with you every step. My main theory of choice is Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and I love helping teens, young adults, and adults navigate life transitions. I am also EMDR trained which has been proven to help treat traumatic experiences. The way I view our potential future therapeutic relation is as follows: We all struggle (including myself), and must climb “mountains” in life. I am not perfect and have not reached the top of my mountain, but I am able to see things on your mountain that you can’t see, and can alert you to potential dangers to help you climb your mountain more successfully. In therapy, I often utilize a variety of practices depending on your needs that include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Gottman's Couple theory, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, and creative writing. I work mostly with depression, anxiety, and trauma. I believe that depression, anxiety, and trauma usually have underlying issues and though our work, we will explore such issues and attempt our hardest to resolve them. I attended Vanguard University and obtained my bachelors in Psychology. I attended Azusa Pacific university and received my Masters in Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family therapy. I have also completed a handful of post master courses in CBT, DBT, ACT, Gottmans therapy, and EMDR. I was born in Guatemala, and emigrated to the United States at the age of 8 months old. I was raised in Los Angeles, I grew up with two different cultures and languages. I speak Spanish as a second language. As a bicultural and bilingual male, I understand the challenges of navigating life as a Latino male. I want to help you thrive where you are!
