Professional Statement
It takes a tremendous amount of courage to seek out therapy and to share your story with another person. For this reason, my main goal as your therapist is to provide you with a safe space in which you feel accepted, heard and valued. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a collaborative experience between the therapist and the client. I utilize a wide range of strategies and techniques that best fit with what is needed for each person's preferences and current situation. I have training and education utilizing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), which has been highly successful in helping people to heal from traumatic experiences. Gestalt, Narrative therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness-Based Interventions are also techniques that I regularly use in my practice. I have worked with a diverse population and a wide range of mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, issues related to gender and sexual orientation, life transitions, relational difficulties, self-esteem issues, anger-related issues, and trauma. Through these experiences I have learned that while we all face different challenges and come from different backgrounds, there is one constant that is always beneficial: knowing that someone cares about us and what we are going through. It would be an honor for me to be that person for you.
