Professional Statement

My approach:

Gaining insight into your behavior and personality is often a cornerstone to getting better and being happier. I combine psychodynamic "insight work' with psychological tools for reducing symptoms and improving well-being. The goal of therapy is to improve life's quality, meaning, and experience. I bring extensive experience in applied psychology to helping my clients navigate life problems and mental health symptoms. I worked as an advocate for elders and as a legal trial consultant before returning to work in clinical psychology 5 years ago. I also have expertise in geriatric psychology and healthy aging.

My focus:

I work with adults and elders navigating life changes and seeking ways to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress-related challenges. I also do coaching in my private practice, promoting wellness, use of individual character strengths, and developing greater self awareness through insight work.

My communication style:

I work to create an environment for deep listening, to truly hear what my clients have to say. Clarification and feedback help my clients see blind spots in their awareness, giving them the ability to recognize old patterns of emotional reactivity and making conscious decisions about how to live and to interact with others.

My goals for you:

My clients and I create goals around their top challenges, within the structure of "medical necessity" and insurance coverage.

My first session with you:

In our first session together, my client will expect a lot of questions and clarification to help me gain a good understanding of your mental health history and the issues prompting you to seek therapy at this time.
