Professional Statement
I’m dedicated to forming an empathic, accepting and attuned relationship with you and creating a space where you can safely explore and better understand what feels difficult and painful—as well as your strengths. I will partner with you to find an approach that respects your uniqueness and the complexities of your life. My work is informed by psychodynamic, relational and attachment theories, which emphasize the effect of early relationships on personality development and current relationships, the role of the unconscious in daily experience and the therapeutic relationship as an agent of healing. I often integrate mindfulness into my work to help people find relief from their struggles with difficult feelings and experiences. I enjoy working with artists and other creative people, those who are challenged by parenting and other relationships and folks who are experiencing life transitions. I have a strong interest in issues surrounding sexuality, gender expression, identity, and non-traditional relationships and family structures and welcome LGBTQ-identified people.
