Katie Champieux, MFT Adults
Professional Statement
I am passionate about creating a warm, accepting, and culturally sensitive environment for teens and adults to heal past wounds, learn and implement effective ways of coping with stressful life circumstances, and take steps that lead to increased fulfillment, peace, and joy within and in relationships with others.
Tailoring treatment to individual needs, I utilize evidence-based approaches with attention to the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. I offer tools such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, inner child work, and somatic interventions that will help you to not only heal but also gain coping skills that you can utilize outside of therapy sessions. As a trauma-informed therapist, I am trained in and offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to assist you in overcoming past experiences that impact present day quality of life and relationships.
My work is informed by client-centered, positive psychology, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral theories. I consider myself a fellow traveler, an assistant in your pursuit of what is right and true for you. Guided by my belief in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship, I view therapy as an opportunity for one to experience an authentic, supportive, and collaborative relationship that fosters resilience, self-awareness, and self-love in order to cultivate and achieve the life you desire. I look forward to supporting you along your healing journey.
