Professional Statement

Dr. Kahn has been a Licensed Clinical Psychologist for twenty-five years. She has worked in many different settings including inpatient facilities, private practice, and health management organizations. Dr. Kahn provides a safe space to process the most difficult of emotions such as anxiety, depression, shame and guilt. With experience, training, and a deep sense of compassion, she guides her clients toward developing more rewarding relationships and a stronger sense of self. She is an active participant in the treatment and believes that a therapeutic relationship must be based on trust and mutual respect. Dr. Kahn approaches treatment from a variety of perspectives. Ultimately, the treatment she provides is tailored to the client. Every client begins treatment with a unique story to tell and varied life experience. From a psychodynamic perspective, she helps clients come to terms with and heal from painful emotions rooted in past experiences. This helps the client identify maladaptive patterns so that he or she can make better choices in the future. She also works with clients through the lens of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This type of treatment focuses on solving current life problems and stressors and examining negative thinking patterns. Dr. Kahn treats adults, adolescents and families. She has worked successfully with individuals diagnosed with a wide array of diagnoses such as PTSD, psychosis and substance abuse issues.
