Nice to Meet You
My name is Vanessa Rivas, and I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a master’s degree in Social Work in 2010 and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Chicano/a Studies from California State University, Northridge.
As an LCSW with a background in ethnic studies, my passion for healing is rooted in community, human dignity, and supporting children, adults, and their families through the challenges of social change. My experience includes working as a strengths-based mental health therapist in various nonprofit community settings, as well as medical settings serving communities in need.
With over 16 years of experience in mental health, my purpose is to create a safe healing experience for anyone seeking to heal past trauma, break intergenerational cycles, and develop greater self-awareness as they work toward an honest, healthy, and purposeful life. I have extensive experience working with children, adults, and their families to develop a deeper understanding of their individual and relational experiences.
My areas of expertise include generational violence and trauma, family systems, foster care, domestic violence, probation, incarceration, anxiety, and depression. In my practice, I will create an individualized treatment plan that supports your healing journey and meets your needs, using culturally sensitive, nonjudgmental, and educational approaches and therapeutic modalities.
