Joan Steidinger, Ph.D., is a CMPC@Emeritus and Fellow through the Association of Applied Sports Psychology. In addition, she serves on the United States Olympic Committee's Registry of Sport Psychology. She has written columns online for PsychologyToday.com and SFGate.com. She has worked as a clinical & sports psychologist for close to 30 years in the SF Bay Area. Some of her particular interests are men's issues, women's issues and sports psychology. Her expertise is in performance psychology, sports injuries, life transitions, depression, anxiety, stress management, dual diagnosis, PTSD, addiction, and public safety personnel (police & fire personnel). She has numerous speaking credits to her name in the public and private sector, including a couple of years speaking at the Western States 100 mile Endurance Race training camp, and at the San Francisco Commonwealth Club. In addition, she taught Exercise and Sport psychology at SFSU and SJSU. In 2014, she published her first book, 'Sisterhood in Sports: How female athletes collaborate and compete.' Her second book was published just as the pandemic hit is titled: Stand Up and Shout Out: Women's Fight for Equal Pay, Equal Rights, and Equal Opportunities in Sports. Currently, she is working on a third book about the power of female athletes in sports. You will see her running the trails of Mt. Tam in Mill Valley, California where she lives with her husband, JP, and two Goldie dogs, Jesse Stone and Dakota.

Missed and Late Cancel Office Policy: Our office requires two full business days’ notice (48 hours) to cancel or reschedule your appointment or your credit card will be charged a late cancellation fee. Saturdays, Sundays, and Legal Holidays are not counted as business days (i.e., if you have an appointment on Monday at 11:00 am, and you wish to change it without penalty, you would need to call our office on the preceding Thursday morning before 11:00 a.m. to avoid the late cancellation fee). The late cancellation fee is $150 for a session with a psychiatrist, or $100 for a session with a psychologist or master’s level therapist. If you are not present at the start time of your scheduled appointment, it may be marked as missed by your provider. Unfortunately, we cannot bill your insurance for late cancellations, missed sessions, and appointments with too little time. We apologize that there are no exceptions to the late cancellation policy.
