Judith Dakota, MFT Children, Adolescents, Adults, Couples and Families Psychotherapy
“There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” (Shakespeare)
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 21 years of experience. I have extensive experience working with PTSD and other anxiety and depressive disorders. I am a California transplant from the Northeast, with Italian, European, and Native American ancestry.
I believe we are emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual beings. So I use an intuitive, empathic, yet direct, holistic integrative approach, including the following modalities but not limited to:
* Guided journeying and relaxation techniques
* Somatic (body-focused) interventions
* Storytelling and metaphor
* Jungian perspectives, dream analysis, depth psychology
* Art therapy
* Mother wound and father wound work & psychodynamic
I believe exploring one’s family history including the ancestral lineage – when appropriate – can shed light on old patterns, so sometimes regression work is helpful.
My gifts as an artist and writer bring a perspective that allows the metaphorical and subconscious to arise, with deeper insights and healing. If you’re looking for an “outside the box” and directive approach to therapy, I look forward to speaking with you.
