Are you motivated to do therapy and need a safe space to be yourself, explore, and/or make meaning of the things that are happening or have happened in your life? Maybe you are grappling with a tough decision you have to make or are coming to terms with ones you have already made. Whether you are trying to make sense of or peace with the past, present, or future, Dr. Lorna Foster may be able to help. Dr. Foster brings her seven years of therapeutic experience with children, adolescents, adults, at-risk youth, incarcerated young people, 12-Steppers, and men and women with addiction and other issues to work for you. Her clinical experience has taught her that people struggle with many of the same issues: trauma, depression, anxiety, trust, boundaries, etc. and that people usually need a trusted confidante who see and accepts them exactly as they are, a caring witness who can see the world from their perspective, and a wise collaborator and strong advocate who will help them see issues from many sides, empathize with them as they make their own mistakes, and celebrate with them as they learn and grow and heal through this process. Dr. Foster aspires to fulfill these roles for her clients. She offers a compassionate, intelligent, understanding, and non-judgmental presence as she supports you on your journey toward discovery of your truths, full self-acceptance, and becoming the whole person you aspire to be. She listens closely, tries to see the whole situation and from your side then gives honest caring feedback. She is always an advocate for your health and wholeness. Dr. Foster’s Transpersonal approach to therapy allows for all aspects of you, the mental, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical, to be considered, nurtured, and supported. To do this she utilizes, as needed, her training in a broad range of therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychosynthesis, and Psychodrama to help her clients move through mental and emotional blocks to achieve their desired goals. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. Dr. Foster is a graduate of Cornell University with a B.A. in Psychology. She has been a Pilates Instructor for the past nine years and is an avid meditator. She also has her own spiritual practice as she believes good mental and emotional health goes hand-in-hand with good physical and spiritual health.
