Lindsey Smith, MFT Adults, Couples, Families
Professional Statement
Hello! My name is Lindsey Smith. I'm married to a veteran of the US Army and we have 3 senior rescue dogs. I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2011 and with my Masters of Science in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo in 2015 as the valedictorian. During my 3,000 hours as an LMFT intern I studied personality disorders, trauma, mood disorders, and substance use disorders. I'm the former lead Clinician of the Adult Drug Court program in SLO County CA. I have specialties in Substance use counseling, trauma, depression and anxiety, and couples counseling. I am ASAM, CBT, and EMDR certified. I use an eclectic approach to therapy and believe true healing can happen in the presence of hard work and commitment to the process of change. I have a strengths based approach but utilize several different modalities to achieve the desired outcome of therapy, tailored to each individual client. Personally, spirituality is the cornerstone in my own journey of healing and if you have spiritual or religious beliefs I'm more than happy to incorporate those into our therapeutic alliance.
