Dr. Melissa Mercedes, Ph.D., is a dedicated and licensed clinical psychologist
specializing in perinatal mental health and the use of evidence-based therapies to
address trauma, depression, and anxiety in adults and Adolescents. With extensive
experience treating trauma, PTSD, and mood and anxiety disorders, Dr. Mercedes is
committed to fostering healing and resilience in her clients.
Dr. Mercedes earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Iowa and
holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UC Berkeley. She completed her internship
at the University of Washington Harborview Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma facility,
and went on to complete a two-year clinical research postdoctoral fellowship with the
San Diego and West LA Veterans Centers.
A certified yoga instructor with over 25 years of personal practice, Dr. Mercedes
integrates yoga and meditation into her therapeutic approach, advocating for the
profound healing power of these practices. Her holistic methods emphasize the
connection between physical and emotional well-being, empowering clients to achieve
comprehensive health.
Beyond her professional life, Dr. Mercedes enjoys walking, yoga, cooking, and spending
time with family. Her passion for integrative approaches to mental health shines through
in both her personal and professional endeavors, making her a compassionate
advocate for her clients’ overall well-being.

Missed and Late Cancel Office Policy: Our
office requires two
full business days’ notice (48 hours) to cancel or reschedule your
appointment or your credit card will be charged a late cancellation fee.
Saturdays, Sundays, and Legal Holidays are not counted as business days
(i.e., if you have an appointment on Monday at 11:00 am, and you wish to
change it without penalty, you would need to call our office on the
preceding Thursday morning before 11:00 a.m. to avoid the late cancellation
fee). The late cancellation fee is $150 for a session with a psychiatrist,
or $100 for a session with a psychologist or master’s level therapist. If
you are not present at the start time of your scheduled appointment, it may
be marked as missed by your provider. Unfortunately, we cannot bill your
insurance for late cancellations, missed sessions, and appointments with too
little time. We apologize that there are no exceptions to the late
cancellation policy.
