Yatra Pesantez received her Master’s degree in Somatic Psychology at John F. Kennedy University. She furthered her skills by attending The Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, which is a training that specializes in the treatment of developmental issues, attachment and trauma by using the felt sense of the body as a source of information and an intervention tool.
Arising from a mixture of her training and applying the principles and practices to her life experience, Yatra has cultivated a sense of devotion to the healing and growth process. In this, she has come to believe in the possibility of experiencing greater authenticity, self love, acceptance, compassion and curiosity in our lives.
Through dedicated practice and bringing what she has learned into her daily life, she has cultivated a unique, heart centered, compassionate approach to the counseling setting. Working with Yatra involves gently moving closer to one’s experience, discovering and strengthening inherent capacities, turning towards our edges with compassion, openness, and curiosity, and reconciling with the various aspects of oneself.
Yatra’ approach to therapy is client centered. She brings the qualities of compassion and curiosity to meet each client where they are at in the healing process. She believes that this attunement and sensitivity supports an intrinsic healing process that develops of its own accord.
